Jillian & Keith
“If I don’t, someone else will”, is what kept running through Keith Chapman’s mind while he was nervous about first asking Jillian to be his girlfriend. Their eyes first met at a
party, sophomore year, at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They instantly clicked and spent the rest of the evening talking, but remained “just friends” for a few months. Finally, after getting rid of his nerves, Keith asked Jillian to be his girlfriend and they’ve been inseparable ever since! Keith was the goalie of GVSU’s hockey team, and Jillian never missed an opportunity to cheer him on. Over the last seven years, they’ve enjoyed exploring new places all over the state of Michigan, trying new restaurants, and most recently, a romantic trip to New York City!
Keith ingeniously purchased Jillian’s ring while she was out of town for a friend’s wedding. He made sure to get some input from Jillian’s mother so that they’d end up with the ring to match Jillian’s style. He had originally intended to propose in early December 2016, at their favorite cozy restaurant. He had the ring in his pocket, but “the moment just wasn’t right. I needed it to be perfect,” Keith remembers. He somehow managed to conceal the ring in their apartment until that perfect moment finally arrived- on December 30th, at a local nature park, on the most beautiful snowy Michigan day. When they reached the top of the hill, Jillian turned to admire the immaculate, glistening snow that engulfed them. Keith knew this was the moment! When she turned back to him, he was down on one knee with her dream ring in his hand. She, of course, said yes, and they had an extra special New Year’s Eve celebration the following evening!
Jillian’s vision for their September 2018 nuptials is inspired by her love for “The Bachelor”, so she’s looking to translate those elegant and sexy details into her own special day, while incorporating Keith's passion for ice hockey. They haven’t quite decided on their honeymoon destination, but Hawaii is definitely on their list. Who doesn’t want to go to Hawaii? Stay tuned later this year for updates and photos of the future Mr. and Mrs. Chapman!
